International bunker trading company Island Oil celebrated its 30th anniversary with a grand concert at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol.
CEO and founder of the company Chrysostomos Papavassiliou welcomed and thanked all distinguished guests, business partners, associates, company staff ashore and onboard. “In the ever-changing global shipping and energy markets, our close bonds are a constant we can rely on, and for that, I thank you”, he stated.
On occasion of the company’s 30 years Mr. Papavassiliou announced that Island Oil, in liaison with the Mayor of Limassol, has decided to grant funding for the Cultural Centre of Limassol. “This is in line with the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility toward a city that hosted Island Oil for so many years”, he added.
Titled “Musica D’Amore”, the concert was inspired by cherished operas, operettas, Neapolitan serenades, international and traditional Cypriot songs, having love as their common theme.
Stavros Dritsas was on the piano, conducting the 12-piece orchestra that took the stage. Internationally acclaimed baritone Kyros Patsalides delivered a dynamic performance that kept the audience vividly engaged throughout, while the ever-talented Vakia Stavrou delivered emotional and touching renditions of “La Vie en Rose” and “La Foule”, among others. By the time the final piece, “O Sole Mio”, was performed by the ensemble, the audience was on its feet congratulating and showing appreciation for the captivating performance.
The event continued outside the Rialto, with a cocktail reception which took place on the beautifully decorated square outside the theatre’s steps. Lively music by the stunning quartet of ladies “Fortissimo” carried on until late into the evening.
