Scope of duties
The Price Risk Analyst contributes to the Price Risk Department in efficiently managing the Group’s price risk. Key responsibilities include daily controls, P&L & exposure calculation, participating in hedging strategy development, and executing derivatives. The Analyst will engage with the trading team, contribute to risk management processes, and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Daily controls and reconciliation of sales, purchases, and derivative trades.
- Calculate and help control the company’s price risk exposure.
- Participate in the preparation of hedging strategies and risk mitigation plans.
- Produce daily hedging and gross physical P&L and contribute to close processes.
- Assist in controlling open FFPs and managing intraday and overnight exposures.
- Trade futures and swaps, adhering to the Group’s procedures and limits.
- Upload trades to trade repositories, produce customer statements, monitor customer P&L, and ensure they are below set margin limits.
- Engage daily with the trading team and other departments of the Group to support business risk management requirements and to execute risk management strategies.
- Participate in evaluating, establishing, and monitoring contracts, and quoting procedures.
- Analyse market conditions, write news reports, and keep the team updated.
- Stay updated on industry trends, contribute to new risk analysis methodologies, and evaluate regulatory impacts.
- Propose and implement innovative tools for process optimisation.
- Conduct scenario analysis and stress testing to understand potential impacts.
- Ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
- Ensure implementation of the Group’s Management System and makes suggestions for improvements.
Required Qualifications / Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel, VBA and familiarity with CRM systems.
- Ability to understand and articulate the benefits of robust risk management policies and processes.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Strong risk management skills, a deep understanding of price risk, financial, and commodities markets.
- Fluency in business English.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrates a high level of ownership, accountability, and commercial acumen.
- Strong analytical background and problem-solving abilities within the broader business context.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work towards shared goals, yet equally adept at working independently with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Front/Middle office or related roles with a focus on price risk.
